Mackay Ring Road – Stage 1 (MRR1) project is Mackay’s largest ever road infrastructure project delivering 11.3 kilometres of new road bypassing Mackay’s urban and central business area.

After project award, Struber immediately deployed a resource locally to manage the initial project communications set-up, approvals and requirements to ensure the project could hit the ground running with early works.

This provided CPB Contractors with an opportunity to undertake the permanent resource recruitment without delaying the program.

Struber’s team of communications and creative specialists delivered:

• A final approved Communications Community Liaison Management Plan
• Created templates for all project communications
• Implemented an internal communications campaign 'Act Like a Neighbour’
• Developed communications protocols with Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR)
• Set up and managed the 1800 enquiry line and the DTMR Consultation Management database
• Facilitated the first sod turning event with the local and state government representatives
